3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

General competences:

be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
cope with changing socio-economic conditions, be financially literate;
be aware of the labour market mechanisms, and of the employee-employer relationships, act on career decisions responsibly, understand the significance of lifelong learning;
use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed in daily situations;
work with the means of information and communication technologies, exploit adequate sources of information, handle information effectively;
act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
support values of local, national, European and world cultures, recognize the value of life;
exert fundamentals of health protection, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety;

Vocational competences:

be knowledgeable about norms and technical standards for workplace preparation, direct manufacture and product finishing;
follow the legal regulations and fundamentals of work safety and fire prevention;
select the raw materials, choose the proper technical equipment for the given technological procedure;
supervise the proper following of technological procedures throughout the manufacturing process, manage and monitor the technological process;
perform technical supervision in the workplace and solve technological problems in the manufacturing process effectively;
perform specialist maintenance on machines and technological equipment;
keep operational logs and manufacturing documentation, use computing technologies in supervising and managing the manufacturing process;
perform technical checks and measurements, as well as technological and laboratory tests;
evaluate the quality control of the products of manufacturing processes;
evaluate basic economical parameters of the manufacturing process from the perspective of work productivity (costs, waste and yield associated with the manufacturing process);
be knowledgeable about the supply and demand of both the domestic and foreign market;
follow the principles of economic use of materials, energies and equipment.

4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE

The graduates may find work based on their field of expertise when working in the fields of the glass and ceramics industries, in various fields of the processing industry, or possibly in research organizations and laboratories.

They may especially find work when working in the glass industry in the positions of: glass technician - technologist, glass technician - head of production, glass technician - dispatcher, glass technician - standardizer, glass technician - quality controller.

In the ceramics industry they may find work in the positions of: ceramics technician - echnologist, ceramics technician - head of production, ceramics technician - dispatcher, ceramics technician - standardizer, ceramics technician - quality controller.

They may also find work in various chemical laboratories and operations in the position of laboratory employee, or in some operative position requiring vocational education in chemistry.
