General competences:
  • be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
  • understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
  • communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; 
  • cope with changing socio-economic conditions, be financially literate;
  • be aware of the labour market mechanisms, and of the employee-employer relationships, act on career decisions responsibly, understand the significance of lifelong learning;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed in daily situations;
  • work with the means of information and communication technologies, exploit adequate sources of information, handle information effectively;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • support values of local, national, European and world cultures, recognize the value of life;
  • exert fundamentals of health protection, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety;
  • exert norms and prescriptions in the field.

Vocational competences:

  • know technical terminology;
  • have an overview over sector legislation, apply in practice laws concerning the environment and make effective use of standards concerning the protection of the environment;
  • assess the influence of industrial technologies on the environment;
  • identify and assess adverse effects of human activities on the environment and propose measures to eliminate them;
  • identify the main sources of the pollution, their impact on living and working environment and indicate the methods leading to their reduction;
  • document the state of a selected landscape entity;
  • analyse samples of water, air, soil, evaluate the results of the analyses, draw up protocols and propose adequate measures based on them;
  • evaluate the working environment from the point of view of hygiene and safety at work;
  • explain basic technological processes most commonly used at the industrial sectors of economy;
  • describe basic operations and functions of the most important technological facilities and apply this knowledge when assessing the technological process;
  • apply in practice the information about new alternative sources of energy and material, find possibilities of their efficient use;
  • comply with the limits for pollutants and apply sanctions for pollution and damaging of the environment;
  • promote principles of environmental management and use of progressive environment-friendly technologies in relation to standards of quality, safety at work and fire protection;
  • prioritise the practices for preventing the industrial accidents and in case of their emergence apply practices for taking recovery measures.
The graduate will find job at the sphere of industrial production, in the business sector, in government administration and authorities, at working activities connected with monitoring of the environment, waste management, water and energy management, at awareness and educational activities.
Examples of possible jobs: environmentalist, official checking and monitoring the impact of industrial production on the environment, hydrologist, employee of department of the environment etc.
