3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES |
General competences:
- be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
- understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
- communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
- cope with changing socio-economic conditions, be financially literate;
- be aware of the labour market mechanisms, and of the employee-employer relationships, act on career decisions responsibly, understand the significance of lifelong learning;
- use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed in daily situations;
- work with the means of information and communication technologies, exploit adequate sources of information, handle information effectively;
- act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
- support values of local, national, European and world cultures, recognize the value of life;
- exert fundamentals of health protection, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety;
- exert norms and prescriptions in the field.
Vocational competences:
- exercise and organize treatment, reproduction, rearing, breeding and feeding of various species and categories of livestock, to ensure the protection of animals against cruelty;
- assess the microclimate of objects intended for animals, deduce appropriate measures,
- control compliance with zoohygienic conditions, assess the state of health of the animals, implement preventive measures, treat sick and injured animals under the guidance of a veterinarian;
- calculate feeding rations using the applied programmes, assess the quality of feed, ensure the preservation of roughages and storage of feedingstuffs;
- obtain, store and keep animal products;
- in horse breeding, treat various categories of horses, prepare the feedstuffs, manage the health of horses, identify signs and causes of common diseases and provide the first aid, assist at veterinary interventions and treat horses according to the veterinarian´s instructions, ensure horse reproduction and foal caring, ride and drive horses, use the devices and equipment for horse riding and horse driving;
- in cynology (canine studies), ensure everyday care for dogs, breeding, reproduction and puppy caring in relation to their further use, care for canine health and carry out interventions which do not have to be performed by a veterinarian, select puppies for specialized training and prepare the dogs before the beginning of the basic training; ensure the training up to medium level of preparedness of the dog, assess the dog´s exterior, prepare the dog for a conformation show and show it;
- provide maintenance, repair and efficient use of agricultural machinery;
- assess the economic indicators of agricultural production, formulate opinions, deduce appropriate measures and use them for management, make out accounting documents.
