3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • know the physico-chemical nature of the mechanical, hydro-mechanical, thermal and diffusion operations, know principle of production facilities and chemical apparatus;
  • self manage basic and complex technological operations, using knowledge about the properties of substances and their behaviour, respond to different chemical phenomena in the ongoing process and deal with technology in the assigned section;
  • monitor the chemical processes and procedures using appropriate measurement techniques, develop and evaluate control records;
  • work with the technical and technological documentation, keep operating records;
  • operate machinery and equipment of particular section of the chemical operation and provide basic maintenance and optimal mode of operation with regard to the technological requirements production efficiency and minimize the negative impact on working and living environment;
  • know the basic analytical methods, use them in the relevant chemical processes, evaluate the results obtained to derive a qualitative and quantitative conclusions;
  • comply with the relevant standards, standardized procedures of analysis in the relevant sites and laboratories and follow technological discipline in chemical productions, have knowledge of the legal regulations in the field of chemistry and ensure their observance.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate is employed in the middle management positions in the field of chemical production and other productions within the field of industrial chemistry, in work activities associated with control and management of chemical-technological processes and in the control of these processes using the operating system and laboratory tests and measurements.
Depending on the selected specialization the graduate can be employed in the production of basic inorganic and organic substances, in the processing of oil and fuels, in the pharmaceutical production, in the production of fats and cosmetics, pulp and paper and other areas of chemical production within industrial chemistry.
The graduate is prepared to be employed in the sector and the business sectors in the chemical industry.
Examples of possible jobs: dispatcher, quality controllers, foreman, planner of technical operations in the quality management system, in taking care for the environment, in trade and economic activities.
