3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES |
General competences:
- be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
- formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language;
- effectively organize and manage and participate in a team, including the ability to lead a team and cope with problematic situations;
- know how to use information and ICT, have basic ICT skills;
- use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
- act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
- apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.
Vocational competences:
- organise his/her workplace, choose the right tools and instruments and set and maintain machinery;
- prepare ceramic raw materials and supplies and perform technological tests, including simple calculations;
- perform technical inspections at the entire ceramic production section;
- make ceramic clay using machinery;
- make ceramic products by turning, pressing, casting, drawing and tooling and assemble and retouch ceramic products;
- operate casting lines and other automated lines;
- choose the right method of drying for specific types of product, place and take out products from kilns and operate the kiln;
- place and take out ceramic products from kilns, choose the right firing tools, check the firing of ceramic products and recognise and use the basic types of kilns;
- evaluate and repair defects occurred during production;
- perform different types of surface finish, apply glaze and engobe and choose the right type of firing of decorated products;
- choose the work procedure for making moulds, cast, retouch and assemble moulds in compliance with the manufacturing instruction and dry, store and keep records of plaster moulds;
- perform initial and final inspections in production and record-keeping of ceramic products;
- evaluate the impact of ceramic production activities on the environment.
