General competences:
  • be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
  • understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
  • communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;

Vocational competences:

  • manage, organize or operationally ensure operation of machinery and equipment;
  • manage the maintenance of machinery and equipment, including diagnosing the technical condition;
  • know the technical parameters of machines and equipment;
  • apply rules relating to their hierarchy (safety regulations, mining law, regulation, lower legal standards, orders and regulations, organizational norms, technical and quality standards, etc.);
  • analyze the causes of accidents and work with analyzes of major accidents for the purpose of large scale search and risk prevention;
  • handle competencies related to the specifics of regulated professions (mining activities and work using mining techniques) and independently update their force and validity conditions;
  • perform physical, technical and technological tests of rocks and evaluate the results of the tests;
  • handle the ways of representation of the Earth in the maps in analogue and digital form, and keep track of the size and shape of the Earth and its natural areas;
  • work with maps (Earth's surface, cadastral maps, etc.);
  • acquire methods of geological exploration;
  • select appropriate technological means in relation with the measured properties of rocks, economic parameters and environmental aspects;
  • come out from the requirements for maximum reliability and safety in the design of mining equipment (e.g. parameters of machines, components, optimization criteria, environmental consequences) associated with the mining;
  • read from the normative technical documentation and technical diagrams required data;
  • use information and communication technologies to support effective work.
The graduate is employed in the middle management positions in the field mining activities and work using mining techniques, in work activities associated with the mining and primary processing of mineral raw materials (rocks).
Examples of possible job positions: technical and safety manager of mines up to 500.000 tons of annual production, mining designer, mining engineer, mine surveyor, geologist.
