General competences:
- be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
- formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
- educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
- adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
- work with information, use ICT;
- use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
- know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
- act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
- apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.
Vocational competences:
- be familiar in the area of art history and the aesthetics of applied art, be familiar with current design trends;
- distinguish between different kinds of glass products and their function;
- know the basic composition of glass and its properties;
- know the main raw materials for glass, describe their properties;
- know the kinds of materials for individual realisation techniques, assess their properties;
- know the process of smelting glass, the ways of forming glass, the cooling process when refining glass;
- know the kinds of glass smelting and baking ovens and the basic principles of their use;
- have a command of the technological procedures and all of the realisation techniques for glass engraving;
- know the functions and ways of using tools, instruments, aids and equipment for individual realisation techniques;
- create simple and creatively demanding designs for specific realisation techniques;
- realise techniques that are simple to highly demanding on the procedures used;
- use traditional and modern technological procedures and techniques including combinations of them;
- use the pertinent computer programmes when making a creative design and the technical documentation;
- have a grasp of professional behaviour, conduct with customers, business and work partners;
- apply a technological, manufacturing and economic standpoint when realising a creative design, make complete design, technical and technological documentation.
