3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
  • take responsibility for completion of tasks in work or study;
  • adapt own behaviour to circumstances in solving problems;
  • be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
  • understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
  • communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least A2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
  • cope with changing socio-economic conditions, be financially literate;
  • be aware of the labour market mechanisms, and of the employee-employer relationships, act on career decisions responsibly, understand the significance of lifelong learning;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed in daily situations;
  • work with the means of information and communication technologies, exploit adequate sources of information, handle information effectively;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • support values of local, national, European and world cultures, recognize the value of life;
  • exert fundamentals of health protection, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety;
  • exert norms and prescriptions in the field.

Vocational competences:
  • have knowledge of the technical and design documentation;
  • select appropriate instruments, tools, machines and production equipment in the manufacture of footwear;
  • create a design pattern or model of shoe and create a basic pattern for the manufacture of footwear;
  • comply with modelling principles for individual production methods and apply a sense of aesthetics when designing footwear;
  • respect the rules in the design and creation of documentation for the production of healthy footwear;
  • follow the technological process of manufacture of footwear;
  • apply creativity in hand and individual production of footwear;
  • distinguish and characterize the basic types of natural, synthetic and textile materials, intermediate products and components used for the manufacture of footwear;
  • assess the quality of material and dilatability of leather material, recognize its faults;
  • cut out and die components, prepare other components for the manufacture of footwear;
  • produce clothes, prepare them for stretching and straining clothes on the hoof;
  • connect the tops with inferior parts;
  • carry out and complete the finishing of the footwear;
  • operate shoe machines for different types of production;
  • carry out routine maintenance, adjustment and repair of machines;
  • repair and restore worn shoes;
  • carry out quality control process and evaluate the finished product ready for shipment.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate is employed in the field of footwear manufactory both manually or industrially. The graduate is ready to perform work tasks in custom manufacturing, repair and restoration of shoes in the manufacture of lasts, the cutting of leather and other upper, liner and inferior materials in the manufacture of uppers for mass production of shoes, for dress shop and the production of rubber footwear.
Examples of possible jobs: shoemaker for the production of custom, cobbler for serial production, shoemaker for orthopaedic shoes, clocker, puncher, shoemaker for rubber manufacturing, repairman of shoes and leather goods.
