3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • observe legal regulations and occupational safety and fire protection principles;
  • know how to prepare production, plan and manage work activities at the given production section and check observation of technological procedures during production;
  • monitor technological procedures, make operational records and keep production documentation;
  • perform operational and technological tests and gauging with follow-up evaluation and utilise modern control methods;
  • know technological procedures of making sheet, household and technical glass, etc.;
  • know technological procedures of glass treatment and finish;
  • observe safe work procedures during production and waste handling;
  • operate machinery and technological equipment;
  • inspect the quality of products and to classify product defects during production;
  • understand business and marketing and current prices of raw materials, materials and energies;
  • understand offer and demand on local and international markets. 
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can hold middle management position in the glass industry and perform activities related to production inspection and management.
Examples of possible jobs: production technologist, shift foreman, quality inspector, procurement of raw materials and materials, sales, marketing, etc. The graduate can also hold other operation positions requiring chemical education.
