3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

General competences:

be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language;
effectively organize and manage and participate in a team, including the ability to lead a team and cope with problematic situations;
know how to use information and ICT, have basic ICT skills;
use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

read design documentation;
make auxiliary calculations and creating a draft of finished parts;
manually process metal and non-metallic materials;
assemble and disassemble demountable, non-demountable and flexible machines, bearings, mechanisms, ducting and fittings;
make minor repairs and maintain combustion engines;
maintain and adjust the mechanical and electrical equipment of construction machines;
check the results of the machines and equipment being operated;
identify faults in the activities of the machines and equipment and routinely remove them;
control, adjust and maintain the fluid and combined systems in construction machines;
choose and set the basic parameters and ensure the machines and equipment run at optimum;
read data from measuring instruments and use the measured parameters to decide on further optimising the equipment's operation;
control and maintain hand-held mechanised aids for maintenance and repair;
operate and maintain machines for manipulating materials;
drive a motor vehicle to the extent that they can pass a test and attain a Group C driving licence.

4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE

The graduate can find work as an employee occupied in the area of maintaining, adjusting and repairing machines and equipment used in the construction and maintenance of terrestrial communications. After acquiring the necessary practice in the profession, the graduate is ready to enter private enterprise in the given area.
Examples of possible jobs: mechanic, repairman for road machines.
