3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES |
General competences:
- take responsibility for completion of tasks in work or study;
- adapt own behaviour to circumstances in solving problems;
- be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
- understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
- communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least A2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
- cope with changing socio-economic conditions, be financially literate;
- be aware of the labour market mechanisms, and of the employee-employer relationships, act on career decisions responsibly, understand the significance of lifelong learning;
- use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed in daily situations;
- work with the means of information and communication technologies, exploit adequate sources of information, handle information effectively;

Vocational competences:
- communicate with customers, measure the bodily dimensions of customers, prepare technical drawings and technical descriptions of garments, cut patterns and carry out model modifications of garments;
- determine the consumption of garment material, auxiliary materials and minor garment accessories for a given product or specified amount of products;
- select suitable material with respect to the desired garment attributes, select a technological process for making specific garments;
- service textile machinery and equipment for separating, combining, shaping, and finishing processes and to carry out their routine maintenance;
- prepare garment material for the cutting and punching of individual garment parts and components;
- personally sew garments, by hand and sewing machine, prepare products for fitting, fit garments on customers, and modify garments;
- join ready-made garment parts and components in a patterned or individual fashion;
- iron garment materials during all stages of creation and inspect the finished product;
- work in accordance with established technological processes and organize one's work in the workplace;
- apply an aesthetic sense in the creation of garments, stay informed of new garment materials, follow fashion trends and new garment making technologies, and stay up to date with technical innovations in machinery and equipment;
- attempt to achieve the highest quality in one's work, products and services, and act efficiently.
