3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • communicate independently and fluently in mother tongue, give reason for his own attitude;
  • seek out essential information from the text and other sources;
  • understand the task and solve simple problems, find the information necessary for the solution;
  • work or learn under supervision with certain autonomy, apply basic rules and procedures;
  • cooperate with others when solving simple problems and situations;
  • apply basic mathematic skills to solve simple tasks;
  • work with a personal computer and its basic and application software;
  • apply principles of safety and health protection at work, fire protection and fire prevention;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • have a basic knowledge of career opportunities in the labor market and of the job search process.

Vocational competences:

  • know the basic assortment of paper products;
  • distinguish between various types of raw materials (pulpwood), know their use in the paper production industry, receive and prepare raw materials for further processing in the paper production industry;
  • process raw materials and half-finished products in a given stage of paper production in accord with technological procedures, operate equipment for the regeneration of chemicals and bleaching and prepare chemical solutions;
  • know hand methods of paper manufacturing;
  • perform simple incoming, intraoperative, and out-going checks on pulpwood, pulp, paper stock and finished paper products, log the prescribed technical data, wrap, label and expedite paper products;
  • operate the machines and equipment in the stages of receiving and raw material preparation, pulp production, paper production and processing and when manipulating with products in various stages of paper production, perform cleaning and general maintenance of this equipment;
  • check the waste waters and emissions from the paper production, manipulate with waste in various stages of the production process in accord with principles of ecology;
  • follow the principles of hygiene when producing hygienic products and products which will come into contact with foods.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduates are prepared to perform elementary operations in the following fields of the paper production industry: receiving and preparation of wood, recovered paper and rag materials, production of pulp and paper, refining and processing paper and cardboard for the final products of the paper industry. 
They may find work in operating and performing minor service of machines and equipment, in processing the out-going assortment of the paper industry's raw materials, semi-finished products and products of all types, and in quality control in various stages of the production process. The graduate may find work in the positions of auxiliary worker in the paper industry, stationer, pulp worker and paper processor.
