3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • take responsibility for completion of tasks in work or study;
  • adapt own behaviour to circumstances in solving problems;
  • be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
  • understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
  • communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least A2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
  • cope with changing socio-economic conditions, be financially literate;
  • be aware of the labour market mechanisms, and of the employee-employer relationships, act on career decisions responsibly, understand the significance of lifelong learning;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed in daily situations;
  • work with the means of information and communication technologies, exploit adequate sources of information, handle information effectively;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • support values of local, national, European and world cultures, recognize the value of life;
  • exert fundamentals of health protection, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety;
  • exert norms and prescriptions in the field.

Vocational competences:

  • be familiar with the norms and technical documents pertaining to the production and refining of glass products;
  • know the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety;
  • set up the work place, tools, and glass moulds for the required technical job;
  • select raw material for the job as well as the proper technical equipment to work it;
  • produce and refine glass products while keeping to the mandatory technological requirements throughout the production process;
  • evaluate the quality of semifinished products and of the glass products worked;
  • note any potential defects formed during the moulding of the glass;
  • set up and maintain the equipment and tools for producing and refining glass products;
  • carry out inspection of the quality of both semifinished and finished products;
  • follow the principles of effective management with material, energy and equipment.

Focus on the production of moulds for glass:
  • choose the proper type of wood for producing a glass mould;
  • choose a suitable method when manufacturing a mould for glass;
  • produce a glass mould by means of chiselling, cutting and meshing, and to properly finish the mould;
  • produce a mould by means of machine cutting;
  • produce a mould from materials other than wood, and produce complex, multipart moulds.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can find work in the field of glass manufacturing, when producing hollow glass, industrial glass, pressed glass, or when operating the machinery for producing industrial and domestic glass.
