3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
  • understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
  • communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; 
  • cope with changing socio-economic conditions, be financially literate;
  • be aware of the labour market mechanisms, and of the employee-employer relationships, act on career decisions responsibly, understand the significance of lifelong learning;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed in daily situations;
  • work with the means of information and communication technologies, exploit adequate sources of information, handle information effectively;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • support values of local, national, European and world cultures, recognize the value of life;
  • exert fundamentals of health protection, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety;
  • exert norms and prescriptions in the field.

Vocational competences:

  • know the physical-chemical nature of the mechanical, hydro-mechanical, thermal and diffusion operations, know the principles of production facilities and chemical apparatus;
  • manage independently basic and complex technological operations using the knowledge about the properties of substances and their behavior, respond properly to various phenomena in the ongoing chemical processes and deal with the situation in the assigned technology segment;
  • check the progress of chemical phenomena and processes using appropriate measurement techniques, process and analyze audit records;
  • operate machines and equipment of subsection of a chemical operation, and provide basic maintenance and optimal mode of operations with respect to the technological requirements, production efficiency and minimize the negative impact on the working and living environment;
  • know the basic analytical procedures, use them in the relevant chemical processes, evaluate the results and draw qualitative and quantitative conclusions;
  • complywith the relevant standards, standard methods of analysis in the relevant sites and laboratories, observe technological discipline in chemical industries, work with the technical and technological documentation, have knowledge of the legislation in the field of chemistry and ensure compliance with it.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate is employed as chemical technician in the field of chemical production and in other industrial chemistry productions in work activities related to the operation and management of chemical-technological processes and in the control of these processes using the operating system and laboratory tests and measurements. According to the chosen specialization the graduate can find employment in the production of basic inorganic and organic substances, oil processing and fuels, in the pharmaceutical production, in the production of fats and cosmetics, cellulose and paper, and in other areas of industrial chemical production.
Examples of possible jobs: technologist, dispatcher, quality controller, quality control technician, foreman, business or economic specialist.
