3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • communicate independently and fluently in mother tongue, give reason for his own attitude;
  • seek out essential information from the text and other sources;
  • understand the task and solve simple problems, find the information necessary for the solution;
  • work or learn under supervision with certain autonomy, apply basic rules and procedures;
  • cooperate with others when solving simple problems and situations;
  • apply basic mathematic skills to solve simple tasks;
  • work with a personal computer and its basic and application software;
  • apply principles of safety and health protection at work, fire protection and fire prevention;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • have a basic knowledge of career opportunities in the labor market and of the job search process.

Vocational competences:

  • read technological procedures with comprehension and use technical terminology;
  • read simple technical drawings and draw simple sketches of products or parts thereof;
  • differentiate between different kinds of wood, construction timber and other materials used;
  • identify wood defects and pests;
  • use suitable materials and prepare them for further processing;
  • perform work tied to the preparation and surface treatment of raw material;
  • use suitable tools, instruments and simple machines in the production process;
  • observe work practices in accordance with the technological procedure;
  • process wood and wood-based materials manually and with machines;
  • assemble finished products and parts;
  • use suitable methods of storing, packing and handling products;
  • monitor the results of your work and the quality of finished products;
  • observe the principles of the economical use of materials and the environmentally friendly disposal of waste.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can find jobs in the field of professions related to wood processing and production, and depending on his or her specialisation, in the area of woodworking, sawmill production or carpentry, especially the handling of material, intermediate products and products; basic work related to the manual or machine processing of wood; production and simpler assembly of furniture, industrial wood products, agglomerated products in construction joinery work, etc.
Examples of possible work positions: woodworker, sawmill worker, carpenter.
