3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language;
  • effectively organize and manage and participate in a team, including the ability to lead a team and cope with problematic situations;
  • know how to use information and ICT, have basic ICT skills;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • be familiar with the technical construction documentation, work with the accompanying design documentation for the plaster boards constructions;
  • carry out simple calculations for material usage;
  • prepare and organise the workplace;
  • select and use tools, mechanised devices and work instruments;
  • select materials and products for plasterboard work, take them to work and prepare them for work;
  • select the work procedure for the plasterboard work;
  • assess the working conditions for plasterboard work such as temperature, humidity etc.;
  • work by hand and with a machine to get the constructional elements of the plasterboard construction ready;
  • make wooden and metal constructions to bear the plasterboard walls and ceilings;
  • assemble the plasterboard walls and ceilings, special and accessory constructions;
  • assemble plumbing cross rails an modifications for electricity distribution;
  • make surface alterations to the walls and ceilings;
  • be familiar with simple pricing in the trade;
  • observe and assess the amount and quality of the work done.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can find work as a plasterboard builder in all types of firms and companies in construction. After gaining the necessary training in the profession he or she can work as a private entrepreneur in the plasterboard trade.
