3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
  • understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
  • communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; 
  • cope with changing socio-economic conditions, be financially literate;
  • be aware of the labour market mechanisms, and of the employee-employer relationships, act on career decisions responsibly, understand the significance of lifelong learning;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed in daily situations;
  • work with the means of information and communication technologies, exploit adequate sources of information, handle information effectively;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • support values of local, national, European and world cultures, recognize the value of life;
  • exert fundamentals of health protection, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety;
  • exert norms and prescriptions in the field.

Vocational competences:

  • plan crop rotation, fertilizing regimes, and plant protection, propose technological processes for cultivating field crops;
  • organize and implement tilling, pre-sowing preparation, fertilization, sowing and planting, caring for plants while growing, harvesting and post-harvest treatment of crops;
  • carry out measures to prevent field crop diseases and pests, assess the condition of growth at various stages of development, monitor the success of agro-technical interventions over specified periods of time, organize subsequent measures;
  • store supplies (e.g. fertilizers) and plant products, propose manners of processing plant products;
  • assess the micro-climate of buildings intended for animals and adopt corresponding measures, apply a positive attitude and responsible approach to animals, ensure that animals are not mistreated;
  • propose a suitable technological process for certain types and categories of animals, organize and carry out the care, rearing, breeding and feeding of individual types and categories of animals, assess the health of animals and take preventative measures;
  • prepare, treat, and assess pasture growth, organize grazing, calculate feed amounts using applied programs, evaluate feed quality, and ensure the preservation and storage of feed;
  • milk and treat milk after milking, store and preserve animal products, propose ways in which they may be processed;
  • propose the storage of machinery and equipment for individual technologies and create organizational measures for their most efficient use;
  • drive class T (tractor) and class B (car) motor vehicles and arrange for their maintenance;
  • manage the given sector of agricultural production, including the use of professional services provided by other subjects, compile and keep operational records for individual sectors of production and use these materials to propose on-going organizational measures, compile calculations for products and services and control pricing, prepare accounting documents, keep tax records for business, and keep accounts using computers, provide basic personnel management and conclude employment contracts; 
  • arrange for the purchase of raw materials and subsequently for the sale of agricultural products, evaluate the economic indicators of production;
  • conduct business activity in conventional and organic agriculture, in agro-tourism, while protecting the environment and developing the countryside, etc.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
Graduates are employed in the field of primary agricultural production, in independent entrepreneurial activities, in agricultural services, in agro-tourism, in the processing and sale of agricultural production, in breeding businesses, in purchasing and commercial organizations, in horticultural and seed companies, in corporate economic divisions, and in rural development services and landscape creation and protection. Examples of possible job positions include: agricultural technician, agronomist, animal husbandry expert, farmer, dealer in agricultural products, breeder, horticulturist, dealer in agricultural services, equipment salesman, etc.
