3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES |
General competences:
- be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
- formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
- educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
- adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
- work with information, use ICT;
- use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
- know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
- act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
- apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.
Vocational competences:
- have an overview of materials used for clothing, judge the qualities of clothing materials and apply their expertise when making clothing;
- read technical documentation when making garments, determine how much clothing material will be necessary to make the clothing, and how much preparation is needed, cope with basic processes of designing and patterning garments, piecing them out, and other technological procedures;
- determine the suitability of using particular machines and equipment for fashioning a particular clothing product, service these machines, make use of a general knowledge of machines and equipment in garment; manufacture, and oversee maintenance and innovation in the machine pool;
- handle the various processes of garment manufacturing (produces basic clothing types) and apply aesthetic sense when creating garments;
- direct and organize the work of working divisions of the garment-producing operation (smooth and effective work flow, ensuring that products are made in the ordered quantity, quality and types);
- direct the workforce, place workers in the workplace, demonstrate individual manufacturing operations to the workers, and generate and files records of the quantity and quality of the work produced;
- judge the influence of various factors on the resulting quality of garment products;
- perform analyses of flaws and evaluate the quality of as-yet-unfinished and finished garment products;
- evaluate clothing products from functional, design, aesthetic, and economics-of-manufacture points of view.
