3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • communicate independently and fluently in mother tongue, give reason for his own attitude;
  • seek out essential information from the text and other sources;
  • understand the task and solve simple problems, find the information necessary for the solution;
  • work or learn under supervision with certain autonomy, apply basic rules and procedures;
  • cooperate with others when solving simple problems and situations;
  • apply basic mathematic skills to solve simple tasks;
  • work with a personal computer and its basic and application software;
  • apply principles of safety and health protection at work, fire protection and fire prevention;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • have a basic knowledge of career opportunities in the labor market and of the job search process.

Vocational competences:

  • use the technical documentation of glazing constructions and works;
  • draw and read simple glazing sketches and drawings;
  • measure glazing constructions and specify the size of the glass;
  • prepare and organize the workplace;
  • define the consumption of materials;
  • choose, use and maintain instruments, tools, machinery, work and handling equipment;
  • choose and use appropriate glass, fixing and auxiliary materials for glazing work, transport them to the processing site and preparing them before processing;
  • design workflow of glazing works;
  • assess the optimum working conditions for glazing works at heights and on roof frame;
  • cut by hand and by machine equipment different types of glass, including wired glass, safety laminated glass and mirrors;
  • machine glass mechanically;
  • choose luting and sealing materials and use them;
  • glass using different types of glass;
  • store, handle and transport sheet glass;
  • assemble double glazing in wooden, plastic and metal profiles with glazing bars;
  • maintain and repair glazing structures;
  • frame and passe-partout pictures;
  • monitor and evaluate quality of the work to the extent of gained qualification;
  • hand over the completed work to the customer ;
  • reduce the negative impact of activities in the field on the environment, recognize hazardous substances and dispose of waste in compliance with applicable regulations.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate is employed in the field of workshop and building glazing works, in work activities such as processing of flat glass by hand and using machinery, glazing constructions with different types of flat glass in glazing bar and in profiles, glazing double glazing in wood, metal and plastic profiles, frame and passe-partout pictures including glazing, renovation and maintenance of glazed constructions.
Examples of possible jobs: glassman.
