3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • be familiar in the area of art history and the aesthetics of applied art;
  • be familiar with current design trends, apply the ability to invent a creative solution to a given task;
  • have a command of the basic creative expression techniques associated with the creative processing of materials in the profession;
  • apply knowledge of furniture typology, furniture systems, civic and public interiors and use knowledge of the principles of anthropometry and ergonomics;
  • independently solve construction tasks from individual interior elements to whole sets;
  • design construction solutions for typical and atypical furniture elements, sets, civic and public interiors;
  • know the kinds of raw materials used, determine and assess their properties;
  • use the creative and expressional possibilities of the materials currently used in the profession;
  • be familiar with the range of work tools, aids, instruments and machines, know how to use them for specific work procedures, know how to treat and store them;
  • create designs for interior sets or their parts (studies, models);
  • have a command of the modern technologies used in furniture and interior design;
  • make a model at the given scale of the furniture item, interior or its part according to a creative design;
  • apply a technological, manufacturing and economic standpoint when realising a creative design;
  • make a scaled prototype of a simple and a complicated interior or its part in accordance with a design;
  • precisely observe the set technological procedures when working with the material, respect the pertinent standards;
  • make complete design, technical and technological documentation.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can find work as a creative or technical/organisational worker in areas focusing on interior design including accessories and their realisation, e.g. in teams of interior studios and ateliers, in consultancy activities for interior architecture, etc.
Examples of possible jobs: interior designer, technologist, planning engineer, head of workshop, etc.
