3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • be familiar in the area of art history and the aesthetics of applied art and in current design trends;
  • command the display methods of descriptive geometry;
  • use graphical computer programmes in professional activities;
  • have a grasp of the basic terms, relations and quantities in the area of statics and flexibility and firmness;
  • construct elements and wholes of scenery and decorations;
  • work independently according to ones designs and those of designers;
  • form the production documentation and models;
  • have a grasp of the composition, properties and use of materials for making scenery;
  • have a command of the technological procedures for making scenery and decorations;
  • make scenery, simple scenery products and mock-ups of the stage area;
  • be aware of the organisation and function of a scenery operation and its integration into the operations of the organisational whole;
  • have knowledge of the equipment in a theatre, the basics of lighting, sound and the other techniques used;
  • apply a technological, manufacturing and economic standpoint during ones activities;
  • make complete design, technical and technological documentation.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can find work in middle management positions in the area of technical preparation and managing the production of light fittings, in work activities associated with the construction and design of light fittings, planning the lighting of interiors, the production technology of light fittings.
Examples of possible jobs: designer and implementer of light fittings, production preparer, technologist, head of workshop, etc.
