3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • know technological processes in all phases of the flour processing industry;
  • carry out technological calculations and statistical assessments relating to the industry;
  • operate independently all practical procedures relating to the pertinent foodstuffs industry production;
  • manage and organize business, and control activities of the foodstuffs industry production;
  • resolve any technological problems during production, determine and assess the qualitative indicators of the input raw materials, intermediates and finished products of the entire technological process, and know how to make rectifications;
  • uphold the health and safety norms and the technological procedures, ensure hygiene at the food plant;
  • keep the prescribed operational records of the given foodstuff industry production, keep the technical and laboratory documentation;
  • carry out basic biological, microbiological, chemical and technological analyses, assess them and use the results to deduce suitable operational measures;
  • be as economical as possible with all the raw materials, products, considering the possibility of reusing the intermediates and waste materials in compliance with the principles of the environmental protection;
  • be familiar with economy, business, logistics and marketing;
  • follow up trends in the foodstuff industry field.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can find work in the food industry, in functions such as secondary technical-economic workers, in the private sector and in services during the purchase, sale and distribution of food products, they can further work in food quality inspection laboratories, in catering services as employee or entrepreneur.
Examples of possible jobs: technologist, technical worker, operator, head of production, foreman, food and raw material quality controller, laboratory technician, trading officer, purchaser.
