3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • communicate independently and fluently in mother tongue, give reason for his own attitude;
  • seek out essential information from the text and other sources;
  • understand the task and solve simple problems, find the information necessary for the solution;
  • work or learn under supervision with certain autonomy, apply basic rules and procedures;
  • cooperate with others when solving simple problems and situations;
  • apply basic mathematic skills to solve simple tasks;
  • work with a personal computer and its basic and application software;
  • apply principles of safety and health protection at work, fire protection and fire prevention;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • have a basic knowledge of career opportunities in the labor market and of the job search process.

Vocational competences:

  • choose suitable raw materials, specify their properties, quality and quantity, store materials in accordance with valid principles;
  • use technical standards and comply with technological discipline in the production process;
  • prepare the workplace, appropriate ceramic materials, necessary tools and equipment;
  • work with tools, operate machines and equipment and perform their basic maintenance;
  • modify raw materials following the technological process for hand and machine production, carry out operation, maintenance and cleaning of simple machines and equipment;
  • master the production of simple plaster molds and know the different ways of shaping: rotating, casting into molds, machining, stamping, melting;
  • make ceramic products according to the production specification, demonstrate manual and handicraft skills in the handmade manufacture of ceramic products;
  • manage the basic technological processes: drying, burning of ceramic products, burning of decoration;
  • assess the quality and sort ceramic products, mark them in compliance with the regulations, pack and ship the finished products;
  • ensure safety and health at work.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate is employed in the field of ceramic manufacture or construction materials in the production of utility ceramics, technical ceramics, heat resistant ceramics, technical porcelain, and other special ceramics, in work activities such as finishing of ceramic products, when carrying out final surface treatment of ceramics, when glazing, when setting up and taking out ceramics from the dry kilns, ovens and when sorting burned ceramics.
The graduate is able to cast plaster molds and pour out simple ceramic products by hand or in the production lines, performs simple maintenance of machines and equipment in the production of ceramics. He/she manage raw material handling, sorting, evaluation, packaging and shipping of finished products and can find a suitable employment in handmade and machine production.
Examples of possible jobs: auxiliary worker in the production of ceramics, worker in ceramic production.
