3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • evaluate the properties of construction materials and to perform laboratory tests;
  • observe relevant standards in testing the properties of construction materials in laboratories and operations;
  • choose the technology of producing construction materials and to organise their production;
  • propose the right primary and secondary raw materials and semi-finished products and to make sure that they are used economically and ecologically;
  • distinguish different machines and equipment, to know their functions and to evaluate the suitability of their use;
  • prepare technological procedures of producing construction materials and to prescribe the technological conditions of their operations;
  • ensure the production and sale of construction materials and products;
  • propose the right packaging ,storing, transportation and expediting of finished products;
  • understand the assortment of construction materials and to propose their use in construction;
  • perform own business activities;
  • calculate product costs and to know the principles for setting prices;
  • work with special economic software applications.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can work as a construction technician in the production and sale of construction materials and products, professional construction laboratories and test rooms, marketing and public administration institutions.
Examples of potential jobs: production manager, foreman, technologist, operations dispatcher-operator, quality controller, test room manager as well as public administration officer, specialist in marketing and the production and sale of construction materials and products, budget specialist in business-economic activities, preparation specialist, sales department employee or employee of business companies.
