3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • take responsibility for completion of tasks in work or study;
  • adapt own behaviour to circumstances in solving problems;
  • be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
  • understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
  • communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least A2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
  • cope with changing socio-economic conditions, be financially literate;
  • be aware of the labour market mechanisms, and of the employee-employer relationships, act on career decisions responsibly, understand the significance of lifelong learning;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed in daily situations;
  • work with the means of information and communication technologies, exploit adequate sources of information, handle information effectively;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • support values of local, national, European and world cultures, recognize the value of life;
  • exert fundamentals of health protection, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety;
  • exert norms and prescriptions in the field.

Vocational competences:

  • organize workplace, choose the right tools and machines, adjust and perform simple maintenance of machines;
  • prepare ceramic raw materials and auxiliary materials, carry out technological tests including simple calculations;
  • carry out technical inspection of the whole section of ceramic production;
  • produce ceramic materials with the use of machinery;
  • create manual rotating ceramic products, moulding, casting, drawing and cutting, make connections, retouching;
  • use casting lines and other automated lines;
  • select suitable drying method for a particular type of product, take on and take out products from drier, operate the drier.
  • take on and take out products to the furnace, select appropriate cutting tools, check the progress of the firing of ceramic products, outline the basic types of furnaces;
  • review and remove defects caused during manufacture;
  • operate various methods of surface treatment, apply the glaze and engobes, choose the appropriate procedure for firing decorated products;
  • classify defects arising from glazing and remove them professionally;
  • indicate the working process in the production of moulds, casting, retouch and complete forms according to the production regulation, dry, store and record plaster moulds;
  • carry out entry and exit inspection and registration of products;
  • assess the impact of production activities in ceramic production on the environment.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate is employed in the field of ceramic production. After gaining the necessary experience in the field is ready for private enterprise in the area.
Examples of possible jobs: ceramics, ceramic-circuit modeller and work in the preparation of ceramic materials and glazes, in the manufacture of commercial, medical, electrical and figurative ceramics.
