3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language;
  • effectively organize and manage and participate in a team, including the ability to lead a team and cope with problematic situations;
  • know how to use information and ICT, have basic ICT skills;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • know fabrics, used machines and equipment and technological and production procedures;
  • evaluate the quality and properties of fabrics and their impact on the clothing design (purpose, cut, technology);
  • operate machines and equipment in the separating, assembling and finishing process;
  • make basic designs of basic types of women's and men's clothing as selected by the school;
  • determine the consumption of fabrics and small preparation works, layer fabrics and lay out and trace patterns;
  • cut out parts of products and prepare them for further work;
  • pad parts of clothing and shape parts of clothing as well as finished clothing;
  • sew by hand as well as on different types of sewing machines and choose suitable technological procedures and optimal ways of performing work operations;
  • make basic types of women's clothing, both with and without lining, in industrial clothing production, as selected by the school;
  • make complete clothing, both with and without fitting, in custom-made clothing production, as selected by the school;
  • make basic types of women's and men's clothing as selected by the school;
  • organise own work in custom-made clothing production and perform work operations within the prescribed time limit and based on standards for industrial clothing production;
  • deal politely with customers in custom-made clothing production;
  • take care of machines and equipment and perform their regular maintenance and basic setting.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can be employed as a tailor in the production of women's and men's clothing. After having obtained necessary work experience, the graduate can start a private business in the given field.
