3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • use basic marketing tools, evaluate market research results;
  • obtain, sort and use information, analyse problems and propose solutions;
  • set out operative plans;

  • use the basic tools for labour relations;
  • keep accounting records;
  • process economic information and evaluate it;
  • carry out the basic hotel administration, set out business letters and correspondence in a foreign language;
  • organise, check and manage workers in the sales and accommodation section;
  • use the raw materials for making dishes and beverages;
  • operate the technological equipment in the business;
  • check food quality;
  • set up food and beverage menus;
  • standardise and calculate the price of food and beverages;
  • organise the work in a business and during gastronomic events;
  • carry out the service of food and beverages, ensure the running of an accommodation centre;
  • use comprehensive registration systems, integrated reservation systems and other information technology means when providing accommodation and catering services;
  • communicate with guests and workers in a foreign language.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can find work in middle management positions in the area of the hotel industry during work activities relating to the operational activities of accommodation and sales centres at lower and medium links of a management structure in all organisational-legal forms of enterprise in this area.
Examples of possible jobs: waiter, head waiter, head of the sales and services section, receptionist, head of an accommodation section, hotel housekeeper, etc.
