3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • communicate independently and fluently in mother tongue, give reason for his own attitude;
  • seek out essential information from the text and other sources;
  • understand the task and solve simple problems, find the information necessary for the solution;
  • work or learn under supervision with certain autonomy, apply basic rules and procedures;
  • cooperate with others when solving simple problems and situations;
  • apply basic mathematic skills to solve simple tasks;
  • work with a personal computer and its basic and application software;
  • apply principles of safety and health protection at work, fire protection and fire prevention;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • have a basic knowledge of career opportunities in the labor market and of the job search process.

Vocational competences:

  • provide personal care for social services clients, assist clients in performing daily activities and self-care tasks;
  • assist clients in dealing with personal issues and maintaining contacts with the social environment, stimulate clients;
  • assist families with childcare;
  • assist clients to run a household, perform routine cleaning, take care of laundry and clothing, do the shopping and provide other services;
  • perform auxiliary tasks in basic preparation of food and in preparation of meals
  • independently prepare simple meals and drinks;
  • comply with hygiene rules and regulations;
  • communicate with clients in an appropriate manner, observe the rules of proper behaviour, professional ethics and rights of clients;
  • be familiar with the social services system in the Czech Republic.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate is employed as social services worker in different types of social services facilities, in community and field services, especially in providing direct personal care and assistance to clients, in ensuring the running of clients' households and in helping families with childcare.
He/she can also be employed in canteens as auxiliary staff assisting in preparation of meals.
Examples of possible jobs: carer, personal assistant, household staff.
