3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES |
General competences:
- be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
- formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
- educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
- adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
- work with information, use ICT;
- use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
- know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
- act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
- apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.
Vocational competences:
- know the care and storage of drinks and foodstuffs, knowledge of foodstuff control from the point of view of quality, nutritional value, and suitability for standard preparation;
- prepare hot and cold meals and drinks and desserts from standard recipes;
- operate of technical equipment;
- know of seating and guest placement, including large groups and special occasions;
- react quickly in certain situations e.g., when greeting and checking in guests as well as in all standard social settings;
- make out bills for guests and clients;
- create menus and lists of drinks with regard to gastronomic rules, create original menus as well as menus for special occasions;
- keep track of goods and foodstuffs, calculate prices and balance takings;
- have basic knowledge of running day-to-day finances and keep accounts, marketing and hotel management;
- know how to provide and sell services, especially catering, accommodation, spa visits, and other services linked with tourism;
- write various types of business letters;
- effectively organize and manage and participate in a team, including the ability to lead a team and cope with problematic situations.
