3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • know the basic concepts of arts and crafts and know its functions;
  • have a grasp of the typology of arts and crafts and their development;
  • have a basic grasp of the technological procedures used, the techniques and materials in individual braches of arts and crafts;
  • have a comprehensive overview of the specific technological procedures, techniques and materials expanding the previous professional preparation in the pertinent field of education;
  • produce according to design documentation, original patterns or creative designs, using suitable technological procedures and techniques in accord with the creative intention of the handicraft product from the area of the previous professional preparation, comply with the high demands for the artistic processing of the final product;
  • understand the importance of restoration and documenting restoration work, the importance and development of conservation, monument preservation and collecting;
  • apply the pertinent standards and regulations from the area of conservation;
  • have a basic overview of the economic terms necessary for business activities.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can find work in middle management positions in the area of handmade arts and crafts production, during occupational activities associated with making and repairing products in the area of arts and crafts production, which stems from the previous professional preparation in the pertinent field of education. After gaining the necessary practice the pertinent activities can be carried out independently.
Examples of possible jobs: decorative blacksmith and locksmith, decorative tinsmith, goldsmith and jeweller, decorative plasterer, decorative woodcarver, decorative cabinetmaker, decorative gilder, decorative lace-maker, decorative potter, decorative glass maker, decorative wig-weaver, make-up artist, decorative engraver, basket-maker, hand embroiderer, scenic shoe cobbler, planning engineer, head of a workshop or a section incorporating the given area of production used.
