3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES |
General competences:
- be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
- formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language;
- effectively organize and manage and participate in a team, including the ability to lead a team and cope with problematic situations;
- know how to use information and ICT, have basic ICT skills;
- use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
- act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
- apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.
Vocational competences:
- be familiar with construction diagrams;
- carry out simple calculations for materials usage and the amount of coats needed;
- select, use and look after tools, equipment and work aids;
- be familiar with the technical procedures in painting and varnishing, propose work procedures;
- prepare various primers for paints and coatings;
- select the coating material and get it ready for use;
- apply the coating material using various painting and varnishing techniques;
- carry out decorative painting using lining, rollers, spraying, etc;
- paint metal and wooden building constructions and simple coatings for furniture;
- put up wallpaper on ceilings and walls;
- appraise the work conditions for painting and varnishing such as air temperature, humidity, etc.;
- be familiar with simple pricing matters in the trade;
- monitor and evaluate the amount and quality of the work carried out.
