3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

General competences:

be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language;
effectively organize and manage and participate in a team, including the ability to lead a team and cope with problematic situations;
know how to use information and ICT, have basic ICT skills;
use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

recognise principal types of trees, their seeds, and fruits and understand seedlings;
recognise principal diseases and pests that harm trees and undertake relevant protective measures based on the instructions of a forest technician;
understand the basics about fertilising, the nutrition of seedlings, and the treatment of forest trees and plants;
perform activities related to logging and timber collecting, in compliance with environment protection requirements and the principles of the sustainable forest management;
observe effective safety and hygiene regulations as well as regulations for reducing risks in logging and operating mechanisation means in the forest;
build small forest constructions and hunting equipment;
operate information and regular communication technology;
have a license to drive motor vehicles of the group T (tractors).

4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE

The graduate can perform qualified activities in forest management, in particular in principal forest production, i.e. growing, forest protection, logging (in particular when using mechanisation means), in associated forest and timber productions, and in companies engaged in reclamation, re-planting, and greenery care in landscape and housing developments.
Possible work positions: forest machine operator and forest technician.
