3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • know the principles and functions of the machines and equipment used in chemical laboratories and operations, work with them, ensure they are working with the best possible regime for their activities taking account of the laboratory and technological requirements and minimising the effects on the work space and the environment;
  • know the principles and use of chemical analysis, take and prepare samples for analysis, select a suitable analytical method, make measurements according to instructions, process and assess the results;
  • apply one's knowledge of the physical-chemical essence of the actions and operations when appraising the course of technological processes;
  • uphold the pertinent norms, the standard analytical procedures in the pertinent laboratories and plants and the technological discipline in chemical production, work with the technical and technological documentation, be familiar with the legal regulations in the area of chemistry and ensure they are upheld;
  • run small collectives and organise work in chemical plants and laboratories;
  • carry out specific activities using computing techniques in various branches of the chemicals and processing industry of a chemical nature and in various types of laboratories.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can find work in middle management positions in the chemical industry, in various branches of the processing industry with a chemical character and in chemical laboratories, during work activities connected to ensuring and managing technological processes and in the chemical control in areas of industry and in the laboratory and when monitoring environmental components.
Examples of possible jobs: dispatcher, quality controller, foreman, task setter, technical manager of a plant and a technologist when ensuring the technical and technological side of a production process, in a quality control system, in caring for the environment and in business-economic activities.
