3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
  • understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
  • communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; 
  • cope with changing socio-economic conditions, be financially literate;
  • be aware of the labour market mechanisms, and of the employee-employer relationships, act on career decisions responsibly, understand the significance of lifelong learning;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed in daily situations;
  • work with the means of information and communication technologies, exploit adequate sources of information, handle information effectively;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • support values of local, national, European and world cultures, recognize the value of life;
  • exert fundamentals of health protection, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety;
  • exert norms and prescriptions in the field.

Vocational competences:

  • measure and diagnose the technical condition of road vehicles;
  • select methods of measurement, measuring devices and diagnostic equipment and means for determining the technical condition of vehicles;
  • select technological methods of measurement, diagnostics, control and functionality testing of assembled mechanisms and equipment;
  • identify faults on vehicles and its individual units and elements using standard and special gauges, measuring instruments and diagnostic devices and equipment;
  • carry out installation, repair and adjustment of road vehicles;
  • select and use appropriate technological and service documentation and manuals for a given mark and vehicle type;
  • check the shape, size, lodgement, electrical values, parameters, the quality of work performed and compare them with parameters established by the car maker;
  • choose appropriate basic mechanical components, kinematic and fluid mechanisms, electrical appliances, common and special assembly tools, hand-held power tools, machinery and equipment, transport and lifting machines and other auxiliary equipment;
  • assemble and disassemble joints, parts for the transmission of motion and forces, ratios, mechanisms and equipment including the mutual lodgement of parts, components and clearance sizes;
  • carry out maintenance, treatment, filling, and replacement of consumables, perform required guarantee and after guarantee inspections;
  • carry out routine and medium-level vehicle repairs, both by replacement, repair and modification of parts, adjustment and setting of the required parameters including the examination of functional units and machines, eventually carry out driving tests of repaired vehicles;
  • manage the operation of repair business;
  • set the need and the scope of repairs of road vehicles and select the method of examination and the delivery of vehicle;
  • work out documentation regarding the receipt of vehicle for the repair and deliver the repaired vehicle to the customer;
  • work with a personal computer and other means of information and communication technologies;
  • competent to drive motor vehicles class C.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate is employed in middle management in the field of car repair, in automotive manufacturing, service, in the technical control stations (SBP) and emission measuring stations (SMEs), in the diagnosis, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and trailers.
Examples of possible jobs: automotive diagnostic technician, car mechanic, car electrician
