3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • know the properties and different use of used materials;
  • know the techniques of making lace and embroidery by hand and know their history and trend;
  • know different weaves and patterns of handmade and machine-made lace and embroidery;
  • draw different weaves in a technical drawing;
  • make designs and their model alternations and prepare technical documentation for a certain model and material;
  • design simple as well as artistically sophisticated textile artefacts from embroidery and lace techniques;
  • develop a design into technical documentation;
  • independently make own artistic designs of lace and embroidery;
  • push through and use new non-traditional ways of lace and embroidery processing;
  • use applicable software in creating artistic designs and technical documentation;
  • know the principles of professional behaviour and the psychological basics of dealing with customers and business and work partners;
  • put together and present collections of own designs and products at exhibitions, fashion shows and fairs.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can hold middle-management positions in handicraft textile production and perform work activities related to designing and making textile artefacts, etc.
Examples of possible jobs: designer and maker of sophisticated lace and embroidery.
