3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • know the physical and chemical nature of mechanical, hydromechanical, heat and diffusion operations and the principle of production equipment and chemical devices;
  • independently handle basic and complicated technological operations, using the knowledge of substance properties and behaviour, correctly respond to different phenomena in in-progress chemical processes and handle situations at the entrusted technological section;
  • check the course of chemical processes, using right gauging technology, and evaluate control records;
  • operate machinery and equipment of part of the relevant chemical operation and ensure the basic maintenance and optimal mode of such machinery and equipment, taking into consideration technological demands, production effectiveness and a minimal negative impact on the environment, including the work environment;
  • know basic analytical procedures, utilise them in relevant chemical processes, evaluate obtained results and draw qualitative and quantitative conclusions;
  • observe relevant standards, standard analytical procedures in relevant operations and laboratories and technological discipline in chemical production, work with technical and technological documentation and understand and observe legal regulations in chemistry.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can hold middle management positions in chemical production and any other production that falls under industrial chemistry and perform work activities related to handling and manangment of chemical-technological processes and inspection of these processes, using the system of operational and laboratory tests and gauging. Depending on his/her specialisation, the graduate can work in the production of basic anorganic and organic substances, oil and fuel processing, pharmaceutical production, the production of lipids, cosmetics, celluloid and paper and in any other area of industrial chemistry. The graduate is ready to work as an employee or in private enterprising in the relevant branch of the chemical industry.
Examples of possible jobs: dispatcher, quality inspector, foreman and standard specialist in technical activities, the quality management system, environment management and business and economic activities.
