3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

Under the nutrition therapist's supervision and in compliance with the physician's diagnosis:
  • make nutrition calculations;
  • prepare documentation on the patient's intake of nutrition;
  • evaluate the nutrition of patients with non-complicated ailments;
  • prepare diet plans for different types of diets and entire healthcare or social services facilities;
  • prepare meals in compliance with healthy and therapeutic nutrition;
  • participate in receiving, checking, handling and storing medical preparations;
  • participate in receiving, checking, handling and storing medical aids, clothing and linen;
  • participate in disinfecting and sterilising medical aids, clothing and linen;
  • use medical documentation;
  • prepare different diet plans for patients with non-complicated ailments and calculate the biological and energy value of diets, under the nutrition therapist's supervision and based on the physician's indication.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can work in canteens of healthcare and social services facilities, public healthcare institutions and public administration authorities, public administration offices providing public healthcare governance and community services. The graduate can work as a specialist in nutrition and diet facilities, in particular in dietary canteens, clinical and ambulance healthcare facilities, education centres, spa and therapeutic facilities, sanatoriums, social and geriatric services facilities. In cooperation with the physician, the graduate can participate in preventive, therapeutic and diagnostic services in clinical nutrition according to the scope of his/her professional competencies.
