3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • appraise the properties of the cloths and determine the suitability of using them and the preparation for various types of clothes aimed at positively influencing the properties of the final products;
  • compile constructional and technological documentation for manufacturing clothes either individually or industrially, during individual production make model alterations to the basic cuts, determine the amount of cloth needed and its preparation;
  • make clothes both individually and industrially, operate the clothing machinery and equipment, use ones overview about machines and equipment in clothing manufacture;
  • monitor the progress of clothes being processed through the manufacturing process, analyse the faults and assess the quality of the clothing products;
  • assess the products form the standpoint of function, construction, aesthetics, production-economics;
  • work with specific application program equipment used in clothing manufacture;
  • compile the background materials for calculating wages, costs and carry out a technical-economic analysis.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can hold intermediate technical-economic positions in clothing firms of varying size when ensuring the constructional technical preparation of production, after the introductory practice and training, functions with an operational nature or as an entrepreneur when managing production and ensuring economic-business activities and consultation.
Examples of possible positions: technologist in preparing production and in the manufacture of clothes, a clothing quality controller, after gaining practice as a production foreman, head of operations or in the section for purchasing cloth and sales of clothing.
