3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • understand the standards and technical documentation in metallurgical production;
  • know the quality standards in metallurgical production;
  • know the physical and chemical basics of fundamental metallurgical processes;
  • know the basics of metallurgical processes in the production and treatment of iron alloys or know the working and heat treatment of metals, including technological procedures of individual operations;
  • know the structure of metals and its changes during metallurgical treatment of metals;
  • assess the quality of a metallurgical process or product;
  • check compliance with technological procedures and safety regulations in metallurgical production and keep operation documentation of metallurgical production;
  • coordinate the course and links of metallurgical production activities;
  • manage technological sections of metallurgical production;
  • know the principles of monitoring and assessing parameters with an impact on occurrence of products that are not in line with the ČSN and ISO quality standards;
  • know the principles and functioning of machines, devices and measuring devices regularly used in metallurgical operations;
  • operate and regularly maintain metal-manufacturing machines;
  • know automatic control principles, methods and means, monitor their defect-free operation and make necessary adjustments.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can hold middle management positions in metallurgy, performing work activities related to control and operation of select equipment for the production and treatment of metals.
Examples of possible jobs: metallurgical technician-dispatcher, metallurgical technician-foreman, metallurgical technician-standardiser, metallurgical technician-designer, metallurgical technician- quality management, metallurgical technician-technologist.
