3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES |
General competences:
- be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
- formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
- educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
- adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
- work with information, use ICT;
- use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
- know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
- act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
- apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.
Vocational competences:
- know he principles and function of machines and equipment used in chemical laboratories and plants, operate them and assure an optimal operational regimen with regard to laboratory and technical requirements;
- know the principles, procedures and usage of the methods of chemical analysis: take and treat samples for analysis, choose a suitable method for analysis, take readings according to instructions, process and assess results;
- apply knowledge of the physical-chemical nature of phenomena and operations when assessing technological processes;
- keep particular standards, e.g., the standard procedures of analysis in particular laboratories and plants, including technological discipline in chemical plants, work with technological documentation and be well-versed in chemical and environmental legislation and assure its observance;
- manage a small team and organize work in chemical plants and laboratories with regard to occupational health and safety and fire prevention, limit plants' and laboratories' influence on the environment to a minimal level;
- apply the methods of chemical analysis for environmental monitoring both in laboratories and natural terrain;
- propose ways of keeping waste to a minimum, using waste and taking care of its disposal.
