3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES |
General competences:
- be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
- formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language;
- effectively organize and manage and participate in a team, including the ability to lead a team and cope with problematic situations;
- know how to use information and ICT, have basic ICT skills;
- use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
- act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
- apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.
Vocational competences:
- choose suitable technological procedures for the work;
- determine and prepare the main and auxiliary materials for making the usual bookbinding products;
- determine the optimum work procedure with regards to using production equipment and the material used;
- adjust and reset the machines which are usually used;
- make the usual bookbinding products and types of bindings according to the technological instructions;
- prepare materials for making demanding and costly book bindings or other demanding products in the area of book processing;
- prepare, adjust and maintain bookbinding machines, equipment, aids and tools, bind signature blocks into unique and rare leather bindings including decorating them;
- prepare expensive material for custom-made production of luxury, unique and exemplary leather and semi-leather bindings;
- make book bindings and other bookbinding products that are demanding on processing, precision, labour and material;
- continuously assess the products' quality;
- deal with customers correctly when taking orders, advise on suitable ways of processing and choosing materials with regards to the final product;
- use effective and advanced work methods and approach one's work creatively.
