3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • know the basic contents and properties of glass;
  • know different types and functions of glass products;
  • know principal glass materials and their properties;
  • know the types and properties of materials for different realisation techniques;
  • know the process of glass melting, glass forming methods and the process of cooling in glass treatment;
  • know different types of glass furnaces and kilns and basic principles of their operation;
  • know the reproduction techniques of glass painting;
  • know the technique of glass etching, matting, sandblasting, lead glazing and glass mosaic making;
  • know the principles of production of molten sculptures;
  • know how different tools, aids and equipment for individual realisation techniques work and how to use them;
  • create simple as well as artistically sophisticated designs for specific realisation techniques;
  • realise technically simple as well as highly sophisticated art designs using relevant techniques;
  • use traditional and modern technological procedures and techniques and their combinations;
  • prepare and work with technical documentation;
  • use applicable software in creating art designs and technical documentation;
  • act professionally with customers and work and business partners.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can work in the relevant area of glass handicraft and industrial production, in particular in designing and forming glass sculptures, forming slumped and sintered glass, glass painting, inducing related techniques, etc., and can also perform these activities by himself/herself. The graduate can also work as a workshop manager in technical preparation of production.
Examples of possible jobs: designer, artist and maker of sophisticated products.
