3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES |
General competences:
- be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
- formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
- educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
- adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
- work with information, use ICT;
- use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
- know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
- act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
- apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.
Vocational competences:
- have knowledge of the social policy, social security system and social services;
- have a basic knowledge of selected fields of law and administrative law, apply it in practice;
- understand the issue of multicultural society and shaping of the relations between majority and minority communities;
- have an overview of the status of ethnic minorities and their problems, especially the Roma, in the Czech Republic, of the national strategy of the government and local authorities;
- objectively analyse the problems of the Roma or other ethnic communities, seek appropriate solutions, and collaborate on solutions with the local authorities and other stakeholders, including representatives of the citizens;
- apply methods of social work with individuals, families, groups and methods of community work;
- communicate effectively with individuals and groups, take into account the socio-cultural specifics of clients when communicating, apply elements of mediation;
- have skills needed to strengthen the legal and civic consciousness of community members and have skills needed for multicultural education;
- take part in preventing and resolving social pathologies, particularly in the local ethnic community;
- carry out the basic office and administrative activities and work with information;
- know and use cultural-historical, linguistic, and economic characteristics of the Roma for the creation of positive relations between the majority and the minority, and for improving the situation of the Roma.
