3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES |
General competences:
- be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
- formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
- educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
- adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
- work with information, use ICT;
- use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
- know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
- act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
- apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.
Vocational competences:
- know the differences among the various string instruments, their principles, functions, and constructions;
- be familiar with the historical development of the musical arts and in the development of string instruments;
- draw and read technical plans, diagrams and sketches for manufacturing work;
- make use of knowledge of raw materials and other materials, their types, properties and uses in applied-art manufacture of string instruments;
- know the technological procedures and techniques of fabricating musical instruments;
- make use of basic concepts from physical acoustics when making musical instruments;
- work according to individual stages of technological processes with an emphasis on precision of execution;
- be capable of applying specific working methods on machines used in fabricating string instruments, perform basic maintenance for machines, tools, and other aids;
- independently undertake the manufacture of string instruments, i.e., prepare and care for the basic materials, sketches models, fabricate basic parts, assemble them, create the right surface finish, the and the final assembly and tuning of the musical instrument;
- perform repairs on string instruments and be well versed in the basic methods of restoring string instruments;
- observe regulations and requirements for the care of historical monuments;
- generate primary and follow-up documentation for correct work .
