3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • communicate independently and fluently in mother tongue, give reason for his own attitude;
  • seek out essential information from the text and other sources;
  • understand the task and solve simple problems, find the information necessary for the solution;
  • work or learn under supervision with certain autonomy, apply basic rules and procedures;
  • cooperate with others when solving simple problems and situations;
  • apply basic mathematic skills to solve simple tasks;
  • work with a personal computer and its basic and application software;
  • apply principles of safety and health protection at work, fire protection and fire prevention;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • have a basic knowledge of career opportunities in the labor market and of the job search process.

Vocational competences:

  • use the technical documentation of floors;
  • draw up and read simple drawings of the floors;
  • prepare and organize the workplace;
  • select and use tools, mechanization equipment and working equipment for floor laying works;
  • select and use appropriate floor covering materials and know their properties and possibilities of their use;
  • select the working procedures of simple flooring works;
  • produce base under the floor coverings;
  • modify the size and shape of floor coverings and complementary materials for floor laying works;
  • store and transport the floor covering materials and auxiliary materials;
  • select working procedures of simple floor laying works;
  • measure the plan dimensions of floors of simple geometric shapes and calculate material consumption;
  • lay wooden floors (planked, timber and parquet ) and lamella floors;
  • lay elastic and textile floor coverings on the floors and staircases loosely and through the sticking;
  • lay the cork floor coverings;
  • perform final adjustments of laid floor coverings such as welding, skirting board, mounting plinths;
  • carry out maintenance and repair of various of types of floor coverings;
  • paint concrete floors;
  • monitor and evaluate the quality of the work to the extent of appropriate qualifications;
  • reduce the negative impact of activities in the field of the environment, recognize hazardous substances and dispose of waste in accordance with applicable regulations.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate is employed in the field of construction, in work activities such as: performing of simple floor laying works, ie. preparation of the base under floor coverings, laying floors, repairs, cleaning and maintenance of various types of floor coverings.
Examples of possible jobs: floor maker.
