3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

General competences:

be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
work with information, use ICT;
use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

know basic legal standards and regulations regarding transportation, including EU regulations;
know the basic economic characteristics of countries, regions, and continents and apply this knowledge in foreign languages;
know the transportation routes, transportation means, and operation equipment;
monitor the circulation of transportation means;
monitor the efficiency of systems managing each type of transportation;
use computer applications for transportation;
organise transportation of people;
organise domestic or international transportation of merchandise through different types of transportation;
operate communication, security, and other technology used in transportation;
know basic transportation and handling systems in logistics and know how to use them;
understand transportation documents for each type of transportation and work with such documents;
know basic economic and accounting paperwork.

4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE

The graduate can occupy middle technical- economic positions in the transportation industry, in transportation companies, in marketing, and in logistics centres.
Possible work positions: station inspector, station dispatcher, train dispatcher, transportation salesman, road transportation dispatcher, forwarder, customs agent, own transportation dispatcher, air-traffic controller, officer for transportation organization and planning at companies and state administration authorities, freelance logistics specialist, and technician for road, municipal, railroad, and air transportation.
