3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
General competences:
 
  • be well informed about culture, history and the present of the Czech nation within the European and world context;
  • formulate views and attitudes verbally and in writing, communicate in at least one other foreign language, use technical terminology;
  • educate themselves, work in an effective way and assess impartially results;
  • adapt themselves to the changing conditions of life and work, work well in a team and be responsible for assigned tasks;
  • work with information, use ICT;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed;
  • know the present rights and duties of employers and employees and know how to conduct a job search;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • apply the fundamentals of health, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety.

Vocational competences:

  • know the structure and function of public administration and self-governing bodies, the basic conditions and procedures of exercising the rights and duties of those who are the focal point of public administration activities;
  • apply the basic rules of legal and administrative procedures when addressing standard work activities and situations in individual (selected) areas and sectors of public administration;
  • draft simple legal documents and supporting materials (with respect to the correct use of language and form);
  • independently draft, check and issue administrative and other official documents;
  • carry out research and activity analysis; calculate and determine fees; compile supporting documents for statistics; and conduct similar activities;
  • use computer programs for public administration, private bodies, and the web-portal of public administration;
  • be ready to work on programs of regional development and European cooperation;
  • communicate with the general public.
 
4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE 
The graduate can work within regional, central or other bodies of public and private administration. He or she can carry out special activities or perform clerical work in municipal property management; keep records in compliance with generally binding regulations; manage administrative clerical work and self-governing committees; perform work connected with the issuing of official documents; determine and collect fees in the administrative process, etc. Should graduates acquire additional education in law or economics, they would be qualified to work in the civic sector.
Examples of possible work positions: public administration clerk, private administration clerk, assistant, organizational officer, administrative officer.
