3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

General competences:

  • cooperate with others in solving simple problems and situations; 
  • understand task assignments or identify the core of a problem, obtain the information needed to solve it, and propose a solution independently or under the guidance of others; 
  • express oneself clearly and independently in Czech, and justify one’s opinion;  
  • apply basic mathematical skills to solve simple practical tasks;  
  • work safely with digital technologies and their basic software;  
  • search for basic information in texts and other sources, understand task assignments, solve simpler problems, identify the information necessary for the solution;  
  • distinguish between different information systems and use them at the user level, enter data and search for and use them for one’s work;  
  • be prepared for lifelong learning and adapt to changing working conditions; 
  • strive for the highest quality of one’s own work;  
  • act economically and ecologically, in accordance with the principles of sustainable development;   
  • observe the principles of occupational health and safety, and fire protection.  

Vocational competences:

  • collect seeds and scions of forest tree species and provide their initial care; 
  • perform basic activities in forest nursery production; 
  • provide care for and protection of forest plantations and young stands; 
  • work with hand tools, implements, simple machines and equipment used in planting and silvicultural activities in forests; 
  • perform stand tending operations (weeding cuts, thinning, pruning, removal of undesirable tree species) using hand tools, small mechanised equipment, brush cutters and chainsaws for cutting diameters up to 15 cm; 
  • participate in forest regeneration; 
  • perform basic maintenance of the forest road and transport network using hand tools; 
  • carry out timber extraction from the stump to the landing site using a tracked skidding winch; 
  • operate, adjust, perform routine maintenance and simple repairs of tools, implements, simple machines and equipment; 
  • manufacture wooden handles, fences, hunting facilities and small wooden products; 
  • provide basic game management care, in particular the preparation of feed for winter supplementary feeding and maintenance of hunting facilities; 
  • drive motor vehicles of category T (tractor).

4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE

Graduates may find employment in forestry production in manual occupations related to forest establishment, tending and protection, as well as in associated forestry activities. They may also be employed in the maintenance of municipal green areas, nature conservation in areas under special protection regimes, and in the long-term maintenance of greenery along transport routes.

Examples of possible job positions: seed processor, forestry worker, forest nursery worker, lumberjack.
