3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

General competences:

  • cooperate with others in solving simple problems and situations; 
  • understand task assignments or identify the core of a problem, obtain the information needed to solve it, and propose a solution independently or under the guidance of others; 
  • express oneself clearly and independently in Czech, and justify one’s opinion;  
  • apply basic mathematical skills to solve simple practical tasks;  
  • work safely with digital technologies and their basic software;  
  • search for basic information in texts and other sources, understand task assignments, solve simpler problems, identify the information necessary for the solution;  
  • distinguish between different information systems and use them at the user level, enter data and search for and use them for one’s work;  
  • be prepared for lifelong learning and adapt to changing working conditions; 
  • strive for the highest quality of one’s own work;  
  • act economically and ecologically, in accordance with the principles of sustainable development;   
  • observe the principles of occupational health and safety, and fire protection.  

Vocational competences:

  • carry out generative and vegetative reproduction of plants; 
  • prepare the soil for planting and plant by hand or on a machine; 
  • perform basic works in the treatment, fertilization and plant protection and comply with the required procedures; 
  • carry out simple works during harvesting, sorting, packing and expedition of the crops; 
  • assist in the cultivation of horticultural crops, i.e. especially fruits, vegetables, flowers, fruit and ornamental planting in greenhouses and loose soil; 
  • assist in the establishment and maintenance of orchard and landscaping adaptations; 
  • create standard binding and arrangement products; 
  • carry out basic maintenance of gardening tools and equipment.

4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE

The graduate is employed in manual and less skilled jobs in the field of horticulture (especially in the floriculture sector, orchard keeping, fruit growing, greengrocery growing) and  mainly  in the establishment and maintenance of orchard and landscaping adaptations and flower arranging and making bouquets.

Examples of possible jobs: auxiliary gardener, horticultural worker.
