3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

General competences:

  • cooperate with others in solving simple problems and situations; 
  • understand task assignments or identify the core of a problem, obtain the information needed to solve it, and propose a solution independently or under the guidance of others; 
  • express oneself clearly and independently in Czech, and justify one’s opinion;  
  • apply basic mathematical skills to solve simple practical tasks;  
  • work safely with digital technologies and their basic software;  
  • search for basic information in texts and other sources, understand task assignments, solve simpler problems, identify the information necessary for the solution;  
  • distinguish between different information systems and use them at the user level, enter data and search for and use them for one’s work;  
  • be prepared for lifelong learning and adapt to changing working conditions; 
  • strive for the highest quality of one’s own work;  
  • act economically and ecologically, in accordance with the principles of sustainable development;   
  • observe the principles of occupational health and safety, and fire protection.  

Vocational competences:

  • be conversant with the basic technologies of bookbinding production and understand their main principles;    
  • recognise and sort the basic types of paper, card, paperboard, cloth and adhesives used in bookbinding; 
  • assist in the operation of bookbinding machines and equipment and observe the principles of occupational safety and basic maintenance; 
  • carry out basic bookbinding operations such as folding, sewing, gluing, cutting and pressing of book bindings; 
  • use appropriate work aids and tools in both manual and mechanised processing of bookbinding products; 
  • follow the technological procedures for the production of simple book bindings and other bookbinding products; 
  • store and handle materials and finished products correctly in accordance with the prescribed regulations;  
  • cooperate with other workers throughout the production process.

4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE

Graduates will find employment as auxiliary workers in bookbinding and cardboard packaging facilities or in printing houses, where they will perform basic bookbinding activities.  

Examples of possible positions: bookbinding worker, auxiliary worker in a printing house, operator of simple bookbinding machines.
